Our People

Nina Walberg, Consultant – Information Management

I still remember how difficult it was to choose where I would like to start my career. I had been intrigued by consulting since I started studying, but I found it hard to imagine how it would be to work for the companies I was interested in.

I will try to explain why I am very happy with the choice I made in my final year at NTNU in 2007 and how BearingPoint continues to be the best employer for me.

The operational focus was one of the main reasons why I chose BearingPoint. Our engagements vary from complex business intelligence implementations to organizational design, but our approach to solve the client’s challenges has several similarities. One of the most important similarities is that we work closely with our clients, and try to understand their problems and characteristics by taking part in their daily work. For me this gives me an unique opportunity to understand the dynamics of the industries we operate in from the inside. When we team up to help our clients we combine people with different academic backgrounds and industry knowledge, get out on client site and stay there until we see sustainable results.

The culture has become more and more important to me. We have a defined set of values and we really live by them every day. I have yet to experience a negative answer when I ask a colleague for help or advice. My co-workers also ask if they can help me in any way before they leave for the day, no matter what role they have in BearingPoint. The fact that we are around 60 people at the Oslo office makes us able to know our colleagues quite well and I therefore find the work environment flexible and far from bureaucratic. We are also involved in what is happening, and our opinion makes a difference in shaping our place of work.

The people at BearingPoint are in the end the most important factor for me to thrive. My colleagues can take the role as a discussion partner, boss, mentor, problem solver or friend dependent on the situation. In all of these roles I find them to be down to earth and knowledgeable with a strong sense of integrity in addition to being calm and fun. We share many good memories from skiing trips, weekly football trainings, parties, biking trips, dinners and other social activities that we do together because we genuinely enjoy each other’s company. This allows us to create a great working environment, where good colleagues and improvements in our clients’ results motivate and challenge us every day.

Petter Schouw-Hansen, Senior Consultant – Strategy & Operations

It was not an easy choice to make, and I would have made the same choice again.

I graduated from the Norwegian School of Economics in 2007, and decided to pursue opportunities within consulting. I wanted to gather experience from several countries, industries and projects with the aim of getting a more holistic business understanding. For me, BearingPoint stood out in the crowd as a dynamic consulting firm that would enable me to work with the most interesting companies in the Nordics and Europe.

During my time in BearingPoint, I have been working within Strategy, Business Transformation and Mergers and Acquisitions across several industries. I have many times felt the ice rumbling under my feet as I constantly face new challenges, but with the support of my talented colleagues the ice have never cracked underneath me. Our focus on delivering measurable and sustainable results is always challenging, but it enables us to become trusted advisors for our clients and build strong relationships.

I like balance in life. Work is an important part of my every day, and is something I have chosen to spend more time on compared to the average. I still need room in my life for other activities such as family, friends and my hobbies. As I will soon be a father, the work-life balance will become increasingly important and I feel confident that this is manageable in BearingPoint.

Ole Pedersen, Senior Consultant - Strategy & Operations

I have worked at BearingPoint in the Strategy & Operations team since 2005.

Prior to joining BearingPoint I was a student at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where I hold a Master of Science degree in Industrial economics and technology management.

In BearingPoint I have mainly worked with large-scale transformation programs with a focus on performance improvement, establishing fit for purpose governance models and aligning mindset and behavior to the corporate objectives throughout the client organization. My industry experience include Banking, Retail, Logistics, Media, Transportation and Technology. In addition to this I spend time on internal development such as offerings, training and people.

In BearingPoint we always work closely together with our clients to improve the clients business on an day to day basis. As a Management consultant in BearingPoint you need to manage both the theoretical and functional skills and tools as well as being able to connect and work with people at all levels in the organization to make change happen.

The working environment in BearingPoint is both supportive and challenging. In BearingPoint you are trusted with responsibility outside your comfort zone but supported by colleagues who are very competent and always offers help and advise when needed.

With high ambitions as a father, the work-life balance is important to me. BearingPoint is a flexible employer that offers both challenging and exciting career opportunities and the opportunity to be fully available for family and friends
